Our Monastery Bakery At the monastery, baking cookies is a hands-on process with a personal touch and a divine dimension. Chief baker Sister Barbara Jean Luebbehusen considers working with the dough "a sacred experience. I feel closer to God when I’m preparing the cookies," she says. Our bakers are artisans of the monastery, who are living out the words of St. Benedict: "Then are they truly monastics when they live by the labor of their hands."
